Sociometry

What is it?
A way to display the social composition, backgrounds, interests etc. of a group to its members

How does it work?
Asking different questions and letting participants position themselves accordingly in the room.

For example:

  • Form a line, oldest ones on the right side, youngest ones on the left;
  • Form groups with people working in social, technical, educational and other fields.

Interview people after rounds (maybe some extreme positions and some in the middle) to get some insights of who is here.

Why are we doing this?
It’s a fun way to get to know the people around you in the group and get into a positive mood.

Group Size and Facilitation
Works well from approx. 8 people up to very large groups (hundreds).

Notes
By starting a workshop or gathering with this method people:

  • get to know each other,
  • feel more connected to each other,
  • have fun!
